Comprehensive courses
Three sections covering the National Standard Plumbing Code, NJ Business & Law, and Practical Mathematics. Each one is built around the current exam, organized so it makes sense, and taught the way the questions are actually asked.
100% online learning
Live classes over Zoom from wherever you are. No driving two hours to a classroom after a full day on the job.
Built for your success
A live online class for every section you book, practice exams you keep for a full year, and a test-day walkthrough so nothing surprises you.
The process is the barrier. Not the test.
Most people who stall out aren’t failing the exam. They’re stalling on the paperwork, the testing center rules, and courses that bury them in material the exam hands you on the day. We cut all of that out.
We teach the current exam
Content is pinned to the current code edition and the reference list in the candidate bulletin, and re-checked every cycle.
We tell you what NOT to memorize
Everything in the course is there because the exam tests it. No padding, no filler chapters, no memorizing things you’ll never be asked. You spend your study time on what actually counts.
We walk you through test day
How to tab and mark your books so nothing gets pulled, which handouts you’re entitled to, and what to do if something goes wrong at the center.
Three steps from signing up to sitting the exam.
Book your seat
Pick the next class date, pay online, and get your confirmation and Zoom link by email. Reminders come one week, one day, and the morning of.
Join the live class
Bring your own code books. We go through the NSPC and Business & Law together, then you drill with practice exams until it sticks.
Walk in knowing what to expect
Board application, scheduling with the testing center, what to bring, what happens in the room. No surprises on the day.
Taught by a licensed NJ master plumber.
I’ve spent the last ten years in the field, and I still believe in what we do: showing up and doing good work for people who need it. When it came time to sit for my own master’s exam, I found the prep options were hit or miss. Instructors who had no patience for questions, and curriculums that fell well short of what a real education should be.
I built NJ Plumbing Prep to fix that. Plumbers keep this state’s infrastructure running, and they deserve exam preparation that respects their time, explains things properly, and teaches what the test actually asks. That’s what you get here: a course from someone who has sat where you’re sitting and knows what it takes.
Pick the sections you need. Or take the whole thing.
Each section is its own live online class plus its practice exams. Every session ends with a Review class open to every student, whatever you booked: bring questions on any section, the testing center, or anything else. Next session: [DATE]. Registration closes [CUTOFF DATE].
Plumbing Code
The National Standard Plumbing Code, taught the way the exam asks about it.
Business & Law
The NJ Business & Law reference, including the math the exam is known for.
Practical
Mathematics and drawings: the section most people underestimate.
Full Course
All three sections plus the Review class. The whole exam, start to finish.
Independent exam preparation service. Not affiliated with the State Board or the testing center. No pass guarantee. Students purchase their own code books.
Straight answers.
Who is this course for?
Plumbers who’ve met the State Board’s experience requirements and are preparing to sit the New Jersey Master Plumber exam. If you’re not sure whether you’re eligible yet, get in touch and we’ll point you in the right direction.
Do I have to take all three sections?
No. Book only the sections you need. Someone retaking the exam after passing Code but missing Business & Law can book just that section. Book all three and you’re automatically switched to the Full Course price.
What does each section include?
A live online class for that section, the practice exams for it, and the Review class at the end of the session, which is open to every student and covers questions on any section, the testing center, and anything else that comes up. Some of the material you need to pass is only covered in the live sessions.
When are classes held?
Sessions run four times a year, ahead of each exam window. Each section gets its own live class, and the Review class closes out the session. Dates are posted at the top of this page, and registration closes before class day so we can get everyone set up.
When do I get my practice exams?
The week classes begin. Everyone in the session is set up together, so you get the exams along with instructions on how to use them, not months ahead with no context. Access lasts one year from that date.
Is this really all online?
Yes. Every class is live over Zoom. You get the link when you book and reminders before class. No campus, no commute.
What do I need for each section?
Plumbing Code: the 2021 National Standard Plumbing Code (NSPC), which you’ll need in the exam room anyway. Business & Law: the New Jersey NASCLA Contractors Guide to Business, Law and Project Management, 2nd Edition. You can purchase this book tabbed and highlighted; email rhysdavis@njplumbingprep.com if you want more information. Practical: a Calculated Industries 4095 Pipe Trades Pro calculator, available from Amazon or most supply houses. No book for this one. We show you how to tab and mark the books so they’re allowed in the room.
What if I don’t pass?
There’s no pass guarantee, and anyone who promises one isn’t being straight with you. Your practice exams stay active for a full year, so you can keep drilling and sit the next exam window. If you want to go through the live class again, you book a seat in the next session.
Are you affiliated with the State Board or the testing center?
No. NJ Plumbing Prep is an independent exam preparation service. We teach the material and walk you through the process; the Board handles licensing and the testing center handles the exam itself.
